Overview

The David M. Rubensten Visitor Center, a nationally acclaimed, LEED Gold, 40,000 sf facility, is the gateway to Monticello. The center houses an important collection of Jefferson artifacts, interpretive exhibits, the Mountaintop Shop, a cafe, education and classroom spaces, the Griffin Discovery Center, and visitor comfort facilities. Services included the creation of the Monticello Historic District and rezoning of the mountaintop for the visitor center use; assembly of the project team, master planning for the mountaintop and a future administrative campus, and management of the development of the Visitor Center through construction.
